WELCOME TO LAWRENCE FOLK

Community participatory activities such as music, dancing, and growing food connect people with one another.    We value the sharing of skills and knowledge, and cooperation & collaboration to build a vibrant community.

Lawrence Folk supports the rich fabric of folklife activities occurring in our region and is making plans to support many of these community-enriching groups by developing a functional facility, the Heartland Folklife Center.  The unique function of the folklife center would compliment our community’s commitment to the arts.

FUTURE IMPROVEMENTS

Lawrence Folk will also be developing a community folklife activity calendar, making it easier to find and participate in folk music, dance and other folklife activities.  We are also finishing up an email database so that you can keep in touch via a newsletter.

Heartland Traditional Music and Dance Festival - informational video

Festival promotional video completed

Our promotional video for the Heartland Traditional Music and Dance Festival has been completed and uploaded.   With much appreciation for the many hours of work involved with the editing process, Greg Allen has produced a fine publicity film for our event.   Not only does it show what to expect with the upcoming event, it also encapsulates the rich folklife that exists in our community.

In other news, the committee is finalizing the schedule and registration information for the event.  That information should be available within a few weeks.

Website refined another notch

Since the last posting, pages have been cleaned up, more photos added, links cleaned up, etc.   It will be a while before the community calendar application is added.  Hopefully by the end of the summer some progress will be made on that aspect of the new site.     Meanwhile, stay tuned for the upcoming Heartland Traditional Music and Dance Festival, November 17 to 23rd.
